Side door gas strut broke

I have a 2015 Thor Hurricane 34J. the side main door gas strut has broke, and I cant seem to find a replacement model anywhere. Does anyone know which is the exact model number? Has anyone done anything to avoid that stupid strut from breaking? any kind of modification or other solutions? I cant put a door stop/latch on because for some reason the manufacturer thought it would be a good idea to mount the awning arm right there. So my door doesnt even open all the way to the wall if the motorhome. When the door is fully open it hits the awning arm. LAME. horrible design. I knew that when I bought this motorhome, that was going to bug me, and it has ever since. I am sick of it, and want my door to open all the way if possible.

please help. what have you all done?

Not for nuthin': posting the exact same thing in three different places just kind of makes it more difficult for you to keep track of where someone may have posted the exact answer that you need...

We just had a good discussion about this here: http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/...ion-11004.html

I just had the same thing happen on me. The winds here in Albequerque are bananas today. The door blew open and pulled the strut right off the ball and now my ball is bent at a 45 degree angle. The struts fits back on the ball, just need to slide the clip back down.
