Batteries

I guess I am going to have to replace my 2 house batteries....Question I have is: Can I replace the 2 12volt batteries with 2 6volt batteries with no problems. I was told that I might have to buy another charger.....Is that true or false.....Which is the best way to go.....6 or 12 volt.

If you have lead acid 12volt batteries now, and plan to replace them with 6 volt batteries you will be fine. The 6 volt batteries are built better for our application. All you will need is a heavy gauge jumper to put your two batteries in series to make 12 volts. Most auto parts stores will have the short cable or can make one for you. Just know how long you will need.

There's no doubt that a pair of 6 Volt AGM batteries can work out to be superior to the couple of 12 Volt lead acid batteries that you currently have...

... If you have the room for them, and the extra weight isn't an issue...

I replaced mine with 4 6volt batteries each pair are in series and the pairs are in parallel to each other, makes a lot more amperage and lasts longer before needing charged.

You don't need a different charger for two 6 volts batteries wired in series (first battery negative to second battery positive). You simply connect your house positive cable to the first battery's positive post and the house negative cable to the second battery''s negative post.

NO you will NOT need to purchases any new cables when going from TWO 12V to TWO 6v. Just reused one of the old cables thats about 2 or 3 foot long.

In fact you will have ONE EXTRA cable left over when done (1 pos to coach, 1 neg to coach and one cable connecting from the pos post of one battery to the neg post of the other battery). Were before both 12V the batteries were connected directly to the pos and neg of the coach (4 cables).

Check this out below (he had to mod his steps).

I like my Full River 6v AGM's because they fit under my steps with Zero Mods.

All of the Lead Acid 6v that I looked at where a little too tall. Plus AGM's are far superior to lead acid in every way (except price).

Oh yeah, No new battery charger needed since your just making one large 12 volt battery out of TWO 6 volts.
