Slide Awning

OK I have never had to deal with slide awnings before. Today we had some high winds, 20 to 40 MPH gust. At what point is storms or wind speed a factor on tearing them up? And also has any one done anything to cover them up when slides are in, afraid the sun might really mess up the first few inches that's expose to the sun all the time.

While I have certainly rolled in the main awning for weather, I've never even thought about the slide awnings honestly...
They are much smaller and better supported than the patio awning - so never considered them an issue.

Maybe others have had some bad experiences - but just not something I have worried about.

Has any one seen some kind of cover for the awnings when they are retracted?
Main and or the slides...

Yes , they are called weather guards, don't know if you can retrofit the existing awnings, never checked. We didn't want the slide awnings due to the noise, but dealer thought we missed them so we got them free. Now after 3 years of winds they are stretched, sagging, & starting to tear, probably won't replace them when they are torn up.
