First is that the owner isn’t standing at that height relative to slide room. It’s going to take working off a ladder to reach motors in order to disengage, and they will be roughly 10-ft in the air.

Secondly, when he pushes slide in manually, the video skips a bit as if it’s edited. I’ve seen similar videos where pushing a slide in takes a lot of physical effort. And in the video, the slide is a small and empty shell that is much lighter than an actual MH slide. Also of concern to me if I was planning this manual retraction is that he’s pushing the slide in at shoulder level, whereas in a real motorhome the slide room would be much higher off the ground.

I suppose that younger strong and agile owners may be able to perform this manual override, but I question if it’s something the average owner should even attempt.
If you just disconnect the wires to the motors to release the motor's brake and try to push-in the in wall slide, you still have the resistance of the gear reduction system and the motors themselves. Pulling the screw from the motor and lifting the motor and gear reduction unit from drive shaft greatly reduces the effort to move the slide in. It does take two people for small slides and three or four for the full wall slides. Bedrooms slide can be moved by one person. Most mobile techs are familiar with the Schwintek since it is used on nearly all front engine coaches. They can get the slide in and locked in less than 1/2 hour..

getting slide in

took 5 people and a person pushing inside with a small jack to get the slide in. It is held in place with slide lock bar and 2 x 4's as we are on the road and repair shops all very busy. we hope to be able to stay somewhere a week or so and have it looked at then. Does anyone know the model number of the slide motor? It was lifted up to dis engage it but not removed.

Thanks for all the help so far.

1 person on each side of the slide, even on a full slide line my Miramar, pushing in tandem is pretty easy. Had to do it when I lost power, unplugged the motors pushed it in, plugged motors back to hold the slide in place during travel to continue to destination. Unplugged all wires on slide controller, waited 1/2 hr for controller to reboot, plugged it in and it worked... tho I plugged the in to out and out to in. So the remote worked backwards. But it worked.

Understand your view point. We all have to try what we think works for us. I had an issue with the bedroom side on a Vegas 27.7. I was able to get my side done manually by myself. OH I am 69 years old. Maybe just just lucky or some angels helped.
