Small Parts

So my screen door handle broke. Checking internet I can see many had this problem. Cheap plastic. Still under warranty. Called Thor they won’t send part say go to dealer. Dealer won’t let me order unless I bring RV to them. So I need to drive 40 miles leave it for a week or 2, they order part ,another week if lucky, then they install. Really for a $15 part that is installed in 5 minutes with 6 screws. What a friggin joke. Ordered it on eBay. If someone could make a metal one they could sell a lot.

Just tell the dealer that you'll bring it there but you won't leave it there--you'll bring it back once the part is in.

Or call one of the dealers on the internet who will order and ship it to you.

I don't go to a dealer for my MH, instead I found a RV service center. They will do warranty work. I still have to take the MH in for them to look at it so they can order the parts, but I make a appointment for that and usually drive it back home after around 30 minutes. Then when the parts come in I make another appointment and wait there as they do the work, then drive it back home the same day. The longest I have had to wait was around 3 hours for a rear track bar to be installed (the labor charge was for 1 hour of work). I tried to do it this way at CW, but they told me that even though I would have a appointment for a small job, that even if I get there right as they open, the MH might not be ready until 5 pm, but I can wait there if I wanted . There is no reason for you to have to keep your MH there the whole time.

I am surprised Thor won't send you the part, they sent me several parts to replace broken things without my having to see the dealer. Our MH has never been back to the dealer for anything even during the warranty and now there is no reason to ever be there. For a $15 part you can install yourself I would never drive 40 miles each way, I am talking about eight gallons of gas for each round trip. Jim.
