48 Ford, 51 Chevy and 55 Plymouth came with a spare...everything since did also. First car we ever had without a spare was an 09 CTS. These days is a cost and weight thing.

The "spare tire" was invented in 1904. I think Ducksface's memory may be influenced by the U.S. government prohibited spare tires on new cars in 1941. Shortages of resources caused by World War II led to quotas and laws designed to force conservation, including rubber that was produced overseas and difficult to get. A similar ban was also implemented by the U.S. during the Korean War in 1951.

My memory is influenced by the maybe 100 trucks and vans a month I was involved in ordering and selling between 1984 and 1995, and a bit of foggy history based on common knowledge of even earlier trucks along with a brief brush with the Studebaker history.
I've charged a buyer $75 for a spare and $120 for a bumper at least 1,000 times.
I don't have the slightest memory about jacks, leading me to believe they all came with jacks.
I do kind of remember selling undermounts on dodges that didn't come with the mount. Maybe we had spare tire kits and not just tires... Too long ago.
This 'no spare tire' thing was too much of a 'daily do' to even remember specifics. It's just the way it was with a truck or van sale.
What's jumbling this all is, I used the words:
Base
And
Truck
Relating my conversation to our current cutaway and stripped e series vehicles.
And
you all are using the words:
Car
And
Cadillac.
Relating your counterpoint to everything other than our cutaway and stripped chassis.
(my first space saver spare was in a 1971 'Cuda convertible. I'm semi sure some 69ish mustangs were outfitted with them as either an option or a beta test.)

Hello Coveman! What is the company name of your coverage?

CAA is the Canadian equivalent of AAA in the US.

Hello our 2019 Windsport did not come with a spare. We bought a spare and mount. We do not have a jack. We have insurance and part of it includes sending a truck to take off flat tire and put on spare. See pic.

My question; is this a normal OEM scope of supply ommission? And also, do other Gemini owners keep a spare on board?
Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Dually
Most of these units have dual rear tires. Why not use one of the dual wheels as a spare? You may not want to do this for long distances but it would work in an emergency situation to get to a repair facility.

It's done all The time, in time of absolute need.
It is in no way a

or
Plan B
It is a
Plan E7

Yes, certainly not ideal. But in a pinch, you can lift the unit with leveling jacks, remove one of the dual units, remove a flat, and replace it. You need to be aware of your loading as well (don't do this with a full load). The dual wheels are there for a reason and support the weight. But it would allow you to limp to a nearby repair facility.

Yes.
This is a case of
Some people wouldn't THINK to do this
Because
They don't solve problems well
And
Some people wouldn't think to do THIS
because of
Safety Sally stuff overtaking direct need.
And
Some people SHOULDN'T think to do this
Due to inability.
No one should ever do this
But
Everyone should be knowledgeable enough to do this.

Because of the load rating of the tire versus the actual weight on the axle. Duals are there to handle the axle weight across 4 tires land not 2 or 3.

Yep, at GVWR at highway speeds.
Think of it as a donut spare - limited speed and limited distance to get you to a safe place/repair facility instead of sitting by the side of the interstate for 3 to 12 hours.

Had one tire of the rear duals blowout on my previous class A, on I-20, drove 2 miles on shoulder to exit and truck shop installed my spare. Michelin warranted the blown tire, but required replacing the other tire as it had been "severely overloaded", but it was not covered since it was "collateral damage".
