Stinky Water

Can anyone think of why the cold water tap on my galley sink smells of sulfur for the first few minutes when it run after sitting for a few days? It is the only tap that does this. The hot water and the head sink do not have this odor.

You might have a biological experiment going on in the line. When was the last time you sanitized the lines?

That is the odd thing. I sanitized not more than two months ago, for the same reason.

If you were at a campground they might have had well water with sulfur in it, or if it's been sitting where it's hot. You'll have to drain and flush your system.

Curious, do you use a water filter between source and coach?

About a week after I first picked up the coach, I drained, flushed and sanitized the system. Early June. The dealer had "de-winterized" it And, yes I do use a filter on the city water connection. What puzzles me is that it only happens on the cold tap.

Try adding water freshener to your holding tank. I used to have the same issue periodically...I flushed and sanitize often but still had the problem often enough it was annoying...that is until added the freshener.

You can still have the issue if you use a filter that removes bleach from your water. The water in your lines become stagnant.

Have had the same thing happen to me. NOT SURE WHY YOU ARE ONLY NOTICING ON COLD TAP..... However, from my research the other posters are correct. It is from Sulfur. It happens usually if the lines that the stagnant water sit in get hot. Big issue in southern Louisiana on well water. Chlorine kills the bacteria hence no issue on city supplied water system. It is not harmful I am told. Normal flushing can rid the bacteria in the lines for the most part but you can do a sanitizing. It will come back if you are on well water. The bacteria are in the water. I usually drain the tank and lines when in storage and flush for a few minutes prior to going out - no issues.

Hope this helps

I noticed the smell when I returned from being away from the MH for a couple of days and the sun has heated up the water laying in the water hose I let it run from all faucets including shower for a couple of minutes until it clears

It seems that a lot of folks have water filters to their kitchen faucets that are buried behind panels and they didn't even know they had.

I've looked and looked in mine so I'm 98.5% sure I don't have one.....maybe you do?

My 31L was hidden to the left of the sink behind the drawers. I have since removed it and use it externally to filter all of the water.

Not sure about water filters but some areas have smelly water from sulpher. We noticed it in Indiana but not in the UP of Michigan. Water from a tap in Indiana even had a yellow tint. We always take at least five gallon jugs of water from our home tap with us for coffee and cooking. You never know what the water will be like at your next stop.
