Yes - rick's needed to be redone - and I assume (hope) it has been by now...

We tend to 'reuse' threads here in many cases... Stirs up a lot of discussion on older items.

Nope, it isn't fixed yet. Hopefully when I take it in for more repairs, which should be soon.
Funny thing, they won't touch the pipe, they're going to cut out the 5" access hole and put a 12" in there. Per Thor
Isn't that about the dumbest thing ?
Those Thor engineers need a paper route, because they sure don't have a clue what they're doing.

Must be the same engineers that layout some of the parking lots here in FL that look like a corn maze.

Mine is enclosed. FW 31E. Was also very hard to turn at first. Now it works great.

I have the same issue on my 2018 21W and that was my first thought. Just put a bigger pass through hole in the floor and call it good. Simple and practical solution to a dumb mistake.

The K.I.S.S. principle helps to keep things easy!

Ok silly question. I opened up the hole in the bin a bit while I wait for parts to put the bigger pass through in.

How the @%&*^$ is thus supposed to work? The door on the 31w opens down so it's right in the way? Open door, remove cover, rotate pipe down, close door, reach under coach to blindly attach hose, open door to access valves???

Do most people's sewer bin doors open either up or sideways? Note I can't come out through the bin door even for a quick dump since it would be 2 or 3 inches uphill to get over the lip of the bin.

Before you learn the KISS method you first have to be a COMPETENT engineer! I’ve seen six year olds with Legos do a better job of design!

On my Vegas my door opens down. Here is the process I use:

1 - Open door
2 - Remove large round closure plate from floor of compartment
3 - Rotate Y-Connection down
4 - Remove cap from Y-Connection
5 - Route sewer hose UNDER compartment and up through large hole and attach to Y-Connection
6 - Close and lock door
7 - Unlock and open door when ready to dump
8 - Open black gate valve to dump black tank, followed by gray tank

Note:

I usually dump black when tank is full. If less then full I add water to black tank by running bathroom vanity and/or holding flush on toilet. The more liquid in the black tank the better the solids and toilet paper will flush from the tank. After about every three black tank dumps, I refill the black tank using the vanity with water only and drain to rinse the black tank.

What if you bought one of those two-foot sewer hose "extensions? You could probably drop it down through the hole, rotate the connection down, and hook them together.
Once that's hooked up and dangling: close the door, and hook your hose up to the extension.

Mine opens sideways and is the biggest "storage" door in the rig.

go to a well used dump station kneel down to hook up dump hose with door in way then have wife stand on 90 at pipe while i grab hose and pick it up a foot or so and walk it to where wife is standing in order to dump hose .do this 3 times then do the same with gray water. 2016 axis.this is how u dump tanks on a AXIS. anyone know what i am talking about?my fix is drive MH on to some 3 foot ramps and get a latter to get into MH. or blast a hole into side of MH ,redo all the dump lines so i can dump like most people.

Sideways or up would make mine a lot more convenient. I wonder if it's feasible to flip my door over and move the hinge.

You'd need to move the hinge, locks, and figure out a method to hold the door open...
It'd be a project; but not an impossible project!

And repair the old screw holes etc. Biggest concern for me is appearance.

I only have to look in the mirror, to be reminded that appearance is barely a tertiary concern...

I know exactly what you mean. I know it's not possible, but it seems the dump connection is below ground level.

all Thor would have to do is raise the pipes and plumbing a few inches then you could open door with tee looking straight out and bingo.! reach in turn hose on tee open valve and be like the big MH.
