Winter storage

I'm about to move my 2013 Siesta to her indoor, climate controlled winter home. In the past, not really understanding how the ATS works, I've pulled the coach batteries just before driving it indoors and bagged the + lead to prevent a short. Would I damage anything if I pulled the batteries at home before driving the 50mi there?
Thanks, Peter

So I assume you're keeping the house batteries at home on a trickle charger? If you insulate the coach house battery positive (+) terminal with electrical tape - or any good non-conductive material, you should be okay.

If you don't plug the coach into shore power in storage, the ATS doesn't even enter the picture. But even if you did (or ran your generator while driving), you wouldn't hurt anything. Same for your coach alternator. It's like leaving your phone charger wall-wart plugged into the wall with no phone attached.

We've taken our batteries out before driving to the storage facility (125 miles) for years.
No problem!
Just protect the cable ends, and you'll be fine.0

So you’re going to reinstall the batteries every time you exercise the generator, or are you going to ignore the gen exercising recommendations from Onan?

Lot of work removing and reinstalling batteries every few weeks.

If you don't have solar why not keep the batteries in it and buy a portable solar array, leave the panels outside and connect it to the batteries inside. I wouldn't remove my batteries every year
