Tires

As a newbie I have a stupid question -

Just got my 2017 Thor Miramar back from the dealership after due bill repairs. I checked the tire pressure on the front and rear tires and they all showed 80PSI. So I put in air to reach the 110PSI as listed on the side of the tires. Why would the dealership leave the tire pressure so low, was I wrong to add air? And how do I check or add air to the inside tires on the rear axle. I couldn't find any valves for these. Any suggestions?

There should be a sticker on the driver's side on the wall by the driver's seat that lists the recommended pressures for the tires based on the manufacturer's recommendations. The 110 psi on the tire itself is a maximum. Most of us with the larger class A's have between 80-90 psi in our tires, depending on the sticker or after having the RV weighed at a weigh station.

As far as the inner dual tires, there should be 2 valves on the outer hub about 180 degrees from each other. One feeds the outer tire and the other is an extended valve stem for the inner tire on each side.

Yep, 80 psi was probably correct. 110 psi is definitely incorrect.

I run my Miramar tires at 85psi. Better, smoother ride.

Tires

Our 2016 Miramar 34.3 specifies 95 psi cold: the tires are rated at 110 psi maximum cold inflation.

The pressure on the side of your tire is the MAXIMUM pressure it can be safely inflated to. As other have said, there is a sticker by the drivers seat with the recommended pressures, probably in the 80-90 psi range, go by what the sticker says.

If you run the max pressure on the side of the tire you will have a very rough ride, wear out the center of your tires, and run the risk of a blowout in warmer weather.

Ditto what everyone else said. When I got my new-to-me Hurricane, the tires were all 110 to 120 psi. After a couple horrible days of driving and TPMS alarms, I looked at the sticker. They were supposed to be 85 psi. I reduced the tire to that and have had much smoother riding since then.

tire pressure, reduce sway, reduce heat build up, reduce chance of blow out, run the dual axle at tire sidewall max, steer axle 5-10psi less. the mfg sticker is for smooth ride.

FTFY

After weighing and following the tire load chart you will probably end up less than the sticker values.

I agree with captmetal. Mfr sticker is for smoothest ride... not necessarily best handling. Too soft gives squirrelly handling. Too hard gives harsh ride. We are almost always loaded and I keep our tires 95 both front and rear. Yields decent ride and best handling. We have a Miramar with 22.5 inch tires.
