Rear Slide on 2016 Thor Siesta 24sr

WHAT THE ?????

Rear Slide malfunction... Driver side of slide begins to extend (about 2") then stops. Passenger side of the slide does not extend at all. Tried extending several times - same issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

And ... thanks in advance

The last time I saw this happening a critter chewed through some of the wires on one of the motors. I'm hoping that is not the case. At least check the error codes on the controller for some clues to hone in on the issue.

Rear Slide Malfunction Update

Hi folks...

Well.... good ole Utube to the rescue. To remind... one side of my slide begins to extend and then stops.. the other side of the slide doesn't extend at all.

Here's how I fixed it....

The slide controller for the rear slide in my 2016 Siesta 24SR is located in the bay and right next to the electrical transfer switch.

Instructions and flashing light error codes are printed on the controller box

1. This first step I completed and don't know if it is actually part or the reason I fixed the slide - there are 4 electrical connectors going into the controller - I unplugged them all for 15 seconds. Why? Then plugged them back in.
2. To "reset or resynchronize" the two slide motors you push the reset button 6 times and on the 7th push you hold the button in for 5 seconds or until the two lights on the controller begin flashing red / green.
3. I went to the bedroom slide switch - pushed EXTEND... and there she went.

Folks.... if a NITWIT like yours truly can fix a problem like this ---- anyone can. And thanks for the replies.

Remember to always hold the slide switch down for a few extra seconds after its fully extended or retracted when extending or retracting it to keep the motors sync'ed up.

X-Fulltimer - yep, that's how you do it. Unfortunately, that corrects the symptoms, not the underlying problem, but it will get you home and the slide out and in a few times. But the Schwintek motor is likely damaged and may need replacing.
