Toilet Bowl Leaking Down

On the last trip we noticed that the water we would leave in the toilet bowl after using it was leaking down. I could even hear a dripping sound. Took it by Camping World and they said they would replace the ball valve and seal when they got authorization from Thor. They emailed me last week and said that Thor sent them a new toilet! I dropped if off Saturday and will pick up next Saturday.

It surprised me that Thor would send an entire new toilet instead of the parts. I wonder if there has been issues with toilets they installed so they sent a new one instead replacing the parts.

That's ok as long as the new one doesn't have the same old parts !

Or Thor has whole new toilets just laying around the assembly line, but they don't have parts. So its cheaper to send a toilet.

Just an FYI for the future, you could probably have fixed it by lubricating the seal with plumber's grease. Worked on mine. But congrats on the new toilet!

Silicone

Next time, try using silicone grease like that that is used on the rubber O-Rings on a pool filter. It lasts for quite a long time. Ours is now three years old. Sometimes, removing and replacing isn't worth it, but I would take the new unit too.

Sometimes a little bit of Blue Dawn on the ball will clean it up and make it work better. When the water drains, Pour some Dawn on it, let it set for a few minutes, add water and flush

The toilet in my axis was offset with the gasket prior to picking it up from the dealer. It's centered now, but Im not sure how it was fixed. Haven't used it yet, so I'm hoping it doesn't leak.

The seal on the ball valve did not look centered in the bottom of the bowl.

Ours has started this but haven't looked into it yet. Gasket looks a little distorted so ball valve may not be seating right.

I had to lube the ball valve on both sides, when you let off the pedal it just didn't close tight. After lubing I could feel the difference, valve moved much easier.

Ours was off center when it was leaking. Picked it up Saturday, it's winterized, so I will have to wait on checking it.

Interesting note: Thor had Camping World send the old toilet back to them for inspection.

Connection gasket missing

Found water leaking out from the base of the toilet and pulled one to look. No ring or gasket on the connection between toilet and flange to the tank. Went to CW and bought the rubber seal that wa supposed to be on the toilet when the unit was built. No rubber seal so water leaks, replaced seal in both toilets and all is good now. Poor QC at the factory.

mine did this after I left it in storage too long and the water in the bowl evaporated.
I messed with it and had no luck. Tried commercial valve seal in a bottle form thetford, and a few other things.

I ordered a new seal kit, but before doing the job I tried soaking the thing for a few days by filling the bowl with some CLR or something similar, followed by some aggressive opening and letting it snap closed.
That was a few years ago. Haven't had a problem since.

Now I'm more careful about pouring some blue stuff in the bowl before storage to reduce evaporation, and adding a bit of water when it does get low

To reduce evaporation in toilets and traps, you can pour a cap full of cooking oil in traps and on top of toilet water.

Two different issues

The flange seal where the toilet connect to the black water tank is the issue here, not the ball valve, but thanks for the advice, I'll know what to do if I have the issue.
