Toilet Problem

We have a new Thor 2018 29M Windsport. The toilet paper and sludge sit directly down the hole and does not slide down to the exact hole. I put a gallon or more water in with treatment packet on initial use, but it does no drain well. The liquid will drain but nothing else. I have to take a hose and from inside flush everything out. That works so there is no obstruction I believe. It just doesn’t drain on its own. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am assuming your toilet is on the passenger side of your coach?

That isnt a solution to this problem. I dont know about your coach but unless you fill the black tank to 80% more water doesnt do anything. Even putting more water down the toilet during flush doesnt always help.

Yes, the toilet is on the passenger side and we have been using a lot of water. It just sits there and will not move unless I move it with a stick (ugh) or use a hose to flush it with the power of the hose.

Tom, I have a fix that worked for our coach but I have to see if I posted on this site, I know I have it posted on IRV2. Its fairly simple project but a few steps involved. In short I built a flush wand that is position right in front of the drop zone in the tank, I have it connected to a water source and solenoid and a switch mounted by the toilet, soon as I see the teepee starting I simply push the button and blast it away. Been using it since last year and have never had another issue. If you are handy and are interested I will find the post for you.

Originally I was going to drop the tank and reverse it and use a macerator but even that wouldnt work due to the location of the toilet.

We carry a 5 gallon bucket. Fill it with water from the nonpotable hose and pour it directly down the toilet hole as we dump. After we dump, fill it one more time and empty it into the toilet so we start with water in the black water tank. Corrected our problem and saved 5 gallons from the house supply.

How about dumping some sort of liquid soap down the drain first? It should act as a lubricant...

I still think your best solution is a macerating RV toilet. Since it will pretty much liquefy anything going down. Granted its an expensive solution.

Just don't drop your glasses, or your wallet into it!

We use HAPPY Camper. It's an organic enzymes that breaks down TP and other stuff. No smell from the tank or from the treatment. So far so good.

So you could have the same problem that we had with our freedom elite. So apparently when they cut the hole for the drain in the tanks sometimes they fail to take the plastic out of the tank. Well you may not have any problems but eveventually the piece they cut blocks the drain. Ours started off just draining slow but eventually it happened it plugged the drain on the road toilet backed up and had to have a mobile rv guy fix it.

Unfortunately that is not his issue although I have read of this many times and it is not uncommon. His issue as is with many of us that have toilets on the passenger side is the drop zone is in the most shallow end of the tank which has just a slight angle. On every other coach I have owned the drop zone is usually right over the deep end of the tank, therefore it made sense to add initial water to the tank as some have mentioned here. In this particular case the problem is the angle is so shallow the poo cant slide but the liquids do thus leaving every thing else behind. It is a poor design and doesnt look like any future plans of correcting.

This is what we do on our Windsport 29M as well. Works for us.

Kona Tom... I have a Miramar and always had this same problem when I leveled coach perfectly side to side. It seems the slight angle of the holding tank allowed the liquids to flow to the deep end but no the solids. I found setting my auto levelers to be slightly lower on the driver's side gave just enough additional slope to the holding tank everything flowed well as long as I used a bowl full of water with the flush. No more moving it around with a stick. (yuck). A side benefit is the AC always runs off the driver's side... Away from us.
