Tread for step to Sprinter cab

Does anyone know where to buy replacements for the rough textured black treads that come glued onto the entry steps for the Sprinter cab on a Class C? One of mine came loose and blew off on the highway. All I have found (at Walmart) are narrow strips of textured tread that I’ve cut and pasted to make up the missing tread, but the edges on those are coming loose also. I suspect I’d have more success if I could put on one large piece rather than having to piece narrower bits together. Have searched the internet and Amazon and can’t seem to find anything...

Also Harbor Freight use to sell it in large pieces and you could cut out the size you need. Given HF skimps on some things when I used it I also added extra contact glue to them to insure a good stick. I put on an aluminum boat 10 years ago and they have not come off once. Thx, Dennis.

Now why didn’t I think of that?!

The textured tread shows in black against the white step of the Sprinter cab. The widest part is just shy of 7 inches.

I lost one on the driver's side. I think the occasional diesel fuel spill affected the adhesion. I bought a safety tread at Lowes that was bigger in dimensions than the one on the Sprinter step, made a cardboard template and then trimmed the tread to size. The new one has a yellow stripe along one edge, which is okay.

I'll add that our 28 footer had them on the E450 cab steps. They started coming up at one point so I sealed them with black windshield sealer and put some weight on them for 24 hours. Removed the weights then used an exacto knife to trim away any seepage-worked like a charm.

Cool Entry Steps

Hello,
My Mercedes Sprinter does not have those steps, do you know where I can get them?

My wife wants to have some kind of step up to get in our Sprinter.

Thank you,
David Ret. USN ETC/SS

That should be a warranty issue. Just call the manufacturer for a replacement. I lost one on my 2018 Thor Siesta and they sent me a new pair for free.

I had the dealer add running boards to ours. The ones on the Winnebago fit nicely on ours.

Replacement running board grips

We had the same problem with it coming off while driving. Went to Walmart and bought a boot mud tray, that you would put wet or muddy boots in. The tray I’d black ABS plastic with diamond plating printing and t only cost about $5.00 a tray. One tea can do both sides. I took off the remaining side for a template and flipper the template for the missing side. Cut out the pieces and used 2-sided moulding tape. 2 years in Arizona sun still looks like new. Total replacement cost about $15.00.

Sprinter step

I had the same problem. I bought the same material that is used on the inside step that covers the battery box. I bought this off of a roll at an Ace Hardware store. I spent more on the double-sided automotive tape for exterior use to attach with. So far has worked well.
