Trouble with Torx screws

I have tried every size Torx driver to loosen the bolts on my 2015 Miramar. They are all just a little too small or just a little too big. Are they a special size?

They are 8 sided...all my drivers are 6 sided. Dealerships (and Thor) probably only one's that have them. That's one way to force you to use the dealerships for work. Might be able to find the right one's online. If anyone knows where to find them, please post.

Trouble with Torx screws

A square bit should remove them.

When I removed the false panel on the left inside wall of the kitchen cabinet in my Vegas, the panel was held in place with 2 ea. 8 sided torx head screws. Like COACE30.2 said, I removed them and reinstalled them with square bit -- no problems.

Can't blame that on Thor or the dealerships. The 8 sided screws have been around in the cargo trailer industry for years.

I guess if Thor doesn't get the blame (or in your words credit) for installing them, no one will eh?!?

Actually I believe it is a vast conspiracy between the fastener folks and the tool manufacturers to keep us buying tools. With bolts they went from 4 sided to 6 sided and then started using 12 point. Since the same wrenches would handle most of these they then started mixing US and metric bolts on the same platform. For screws they went from straight tip to cross trip to torx and now 8 point.

What's a person to do other than buy more tools for the tool box.

Blame, or give credit to, Fastenal first and then snap on, craftsman and mac.

The only tool I know that will handle all types of bolts and screws is the trusty smoke wrench. The smoke wrench will remove any screw, bolt nut along with any parts nearby.

Double-square[edit]
Double-square screw drive. Similar in concept to square (Robertson) and triple-square.
Double-square drive is 2 squares superimposed, forming an 8-pointed star. In other words, 2 Robertson squares superimposed at 45° rotation. This is similar to that of the triple-square. The concept is that of a square drive (Robertson) but can be caught at more frequent angles by the driver bit.

Ultimately it was someone at Thor who purchased the hex screws in bulk. They were delivered and used in the assembly process. The tool makers had nothing to do with it!!!

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I need stronger reading glasses. I thought it was some weird size torx head. It is indeed a 8 sided and a #2 square bit fits great!
