Using generator to operate the AC.

Hi.
Just bought a used 2007 Hurricane 32E and never had an RV before. Need help on using the generator to operate the AC. No issue with using 110V. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Unless you have a problem, turn on the generator, give a minute or two to run and then turn on the AC.

AC should work the same as if you were plugged into shore power.

If it does not, try to describe the problem and the Sages and Gurus here will offer solutions.

We just leave the A/C on and use the switch on the dash to turn on/off the generator when the A/C is needed (while going down the road).

Here's the step-by-step detailed instructions:
1 - Start the generator
2 - Wait until the microwave shows it has power, might even beep
3 - Turn on the Air Conditioner
4 - Enjoy cooler air in the coach

I run the generator for a few minutes, set the thermostat to AC, Temp at 65 and noting happens. But if I use 110 V, the AC works just fine!

One AC or two?
If two, neither one works?
Do the interior lights work?
Do the outlets and/or microwave work?

May be an automatic transfer switch problem
May be a DC control power problem

Check the breakers on the generator.

I checked the breaker and it appears to be in working order. Fired up the generator still no power to the AC or microwave.

And the answers to these questions are?

Trying to better define your symptoms to help you resolve this.

If NONE if your 120 v electric appliances are working on generator, but are on shore power it sounds like you have an issue with your AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH (ATS) which switches the coach from SHORE POWER and GENERATOR.

It sounds like it could be a loose connection in the switch.

Simpler than that... typically breakers on the generator... one on 30a and two on 50 amp...
But depend on answers to questions already asked whether this applies.

Our Hurricane has to have the Store/In Use button to In Use.

In an old 2007 Itasca 24V we used to own the shore power line had to be plugged in to the 30 amp socket within the storage compartment in order to feed gen power into the system. Perhaps yours is set up that way?

Do you have a transfer switch or do you have to plug your generator where you plug your main power in?

I’m having the same issue on my freedom elite 21c. The generator is working and the lights work but my outlets, microwave tv don’t power up. Checked the breakers, fuses in the rig all good but the gcfi outlet doesn’t reset. I do have it plugged into the rig. I’ve just don’t know what else to do. I’m camping off grid but at least my lights are running off the generator. Help please.

Your lights run off the battery.
