Has anyone found a good surge protector to use on the RV park hookup pedestal site.

I've had the 50 amp version on the end of my power cord since April 2011. It may not look as good as it did way back then but still doing its job 24/7/365.

These things are a bit expensive but its a one time insurance policy against power problems, human error and potential mistakes that will make life on the road difficult if you experience them. Don't go cheap, spend the money and get the versions that checks power for multiple problems. High/low volts, miswired pedestal, open neutral/grounds and such.

Do not wast you money on just a surge protector. Buy an EMS. Low voltage is your enemy in a campground. Research Surge Protector, EMS, and Auto-transformer. 3 different items the do three different things.

Surge Guard and Progressive Industries are Company names.

I agree. I have the 30amp along with a 50amp adapter. It lets me know that it's safe to use the shore power before I plug anything in. It's well worth the money.

I agree, but they just asked about a surge protector. Just Googling RV surge protector come up with about 4-5 different options.

The term "surge protector: is often used; when the person asking the question is actually asking about something that offers MUCH more protection.

Another vote for Progressive Industries EMS. I went with the portable version because it is just that, portable. The company provides a lifetime warranty and they really stand behind their product.

Surge Guard is a company name. What piece of equipment did you buy from Surguard?

The term "Surge Protector..."

If you feel as if you'd like to better describe what you've bought to protect the electronic systems in your rig: you could always refer to it as a "Power Management System"

...And then tell everybody that you've got P.M.S.!

I Hard wired the Surge Guard for my 30 amp Axis. Works great. I decided it was easier than using at the pedestal plus eliminates someone stealing it (now they have to take the entire RV to steal mine )

I figured once you get in the $200 range for something like this it was worth it to hard wire in the long run.
