Vegas sewage odors

I have 2014 Vegas. Began having strong sewage odors in the coach. discovered the air-entrainment valve vent under the bathroom basin was only finger tight. It loosened further from our travels. It is hard to see, and difficult to reach, but it can be done easier if you remove the one screw that holds the back panel which hides the drain pipes. Take out the panel and you have some leeway to move the drainpipe out enough to get your hand around the vent valve and tighten it. This valve is also called a studor valve. They are used anywhere a conventional vent pipe cannot be vented to the outside, whether in a home or an RV. The bathroom basin drains into the black water holding tank therefore any problem with the entrainment valve causes black water fumes to enter the coach. In addition, be sure to never allow the p-trap in that sink to dry out as when the p-trap water evaporates over the winter, or during extended storage. This will also allow the sewage fumes to enter the coach.

Thanks, I discovered the dry p-trap problem in the bathroom by accident...now time to look for the studor valve.

There is also one on the kitchen sink but since that drains to the grey tank the odors will be much less, er, severe.

I'm thinking of installing one of these to deal with black thank odors

360 Siphon ®

Has anyone installed one on their AXIS or Vegas

With remote storage lots and Colorado winters (humidity in negative numbers) it's pretty much impossible to keep the p-traps from drying out. Having a squeaky-clean black tank helps keep the funk down, some...

We have the same problem in the sticks-n-bricks. Two showers that rarely get used. Every few months the nose reminds me it's time to run the shower for a minute or two.

Randy:

At home, I have used mineral oil for this p-trap drying issue on infrequently used drains. Just pour a cup or so in the drain. Might work for RV if it doesn't coat the level sensors. It will last months and wash right down.
