Cleaning a Rubber Roof

What is the best product to use when cleaning/washing a rubber roof? I have heard people say spic and span. What really gets that black off. Should I use a pressure washer? Hard/soft brush on an extension pole? Should I treat the roof with something after the cleaning is complete?

Thanks,

I used "Thetford Premium RV Rubber Roof Cleaner" from Amazon on mine then followed up with 303 UV protectant. I used a Soft to med soft brush and then I scrubbed stuborn spots with a non abrasive scrubby sponge.

Im sure you could use some mild detergent as well. Im sure others will chime in with some good ideas.

That's the same stuff that I bought...
Thanks for the tip on using "303" as a follow-up!

Yeah just get a 55 gallon drum of 303 and hose down the whole camper then you'll be good to go!

I use Dawn dish soap a couple times a year.

Since it's a UV protectant: perhaps I should wash in it as well!

Unfortunally I think they 303 on the roof only last like a month or two. But if you have spare time you could to a lightly cleaning every two months and then re-apply 303? Sound like a lot of work but you roof should stay like new and since your washing so much it would stay very clean and it should only take around 30 minutes. Not to mention you can inspect your dicor each time and prevent future leaks.

I have inside storage so my roof stays very clean. Once or twice a year fine for me.

I wonder if you drink 303 if you would sweat it out and never burn? Let me know how that goes. LOL.

You can post us form the ER room while your getting your stomach pumped out.

Second thought.... It Might make it hard to hold your beer bottle(S). LOL

Thanks,
I've only cleaned ours 1 time since pur new last Aug.
I keep it under shelter but open on both ends.
Cleaned it late March to Mid April.
It was a bit dirtier that I expected but I'm not sure how it
looked when I took delivery.
Regardless, I used a soft scrub brush (long handle) like for the car
with Dawn dish detergent. Worked well.
Just a little nervous walking around on top
with all that soap.
For me to give it a full bath took most of the day.

So, if you plan to clean it all and your sort of old like me, plan
on making it a long day.

What I don't understand is I can get up there and scrub away with Dawn or whatever and my footprints are showing cleaner results than where I have scrubbed. I can see where I walked, but I can't get it clean enough to erase my foot prints. And no I wasn't wearing golf shoes.

yes I was having the same experience. mine is a tpo material. I tried the murphy's oil soap and light brush. no impact to removing dirt stain. what did work was some turtle wax max power car wash and 3 dry erase sponges. all by hand. took a couple of evenings on my thor outlaw 29h roof. looks like brand new now. even cleaned up the dicor. just be aware of the strength ratio you make with your turtle wax. it can get aggressive.

I’ve always washed the roof on my RVs and applied protectant. I quit worrying about spots and streaks many years ago.

Murphy's Oil Soap works great and doesn't dry out the rubber.

Simple Green and a medium stiff deck brush made for wood decks. I wet the roof, apply the Simple Green, scub lightly, and allow to sit for a while, then scrub well and rinse.

Maybe a bit embarrassing but I don't know what kind of roof I have. Anyone know what the Chateau Super C has?

The regular C's have "TPO" (White rubber roof) so I bet the Super C's do as well.

TPO is an acronym that stands for Thermoplastic Polyolefin. Basically it’s a very tough UV stabilized plastic, has been used on commercial roofs for many years. Lighter, tougher, and longer lasting than most “rubber” roofs.
