De-winterize Thor MH

I just went thru this with my new Thor Axis 25.1.
The great users of this forum and Thor support sent me layouts of the fresh water system.
Do NOT turn on your hot water heater before your sure there is water in the tank. I opened the drain plug to flush out any antifreeze before turning on the water heaters.

These are great diagrams Footloose. Thanks.
We just bought our Axis 25.1 in February and these will be helpful.

Have you used the seating area in the back for sleeping? Just curious how comfortable it is for two people.

We will be taking our first trip this week. We have not setup any of the beds. I guess we'll figure it out when we get there.(we may be sleeping on the floor)

Have fun and enjoy. Dieing to get mine back from Campers World in New Braunfels from some warranty work. Which they haven't even started to fix and they have no idea when they can fix. Damn it. /Mikey

A lot of these diagrams are posted by members that have called Thor and requested them for one reason or another.

I recommend everyone call Thor and request their component list which has the model and serial number of everything such as stove, refrig, AC units, awning motor, etc... That is handy to have when you are looking for parts for systems. The component list is by VIN so somone else's may not match your coach build.

I like how the low point drains are shown to be...... wait for it..... NOT the low point in the system.

I can't tell where the "city water fill" ends in that diagram.... maybe just hard to see at the reduced size.... Am I correct to assume it just tees into a cold water line to pressurize it. I assume there is a check someplace not shown so that when not connected to city water, the pump doesn't pump water out the inlet....

Re the diagrams.
I called, and asked, and called, and the dealer to get them for me, and emailed, and called to ask again.... kept being told that they didn't have any.

Finally I asked my warranty repair contact rep when in mid project, and he pulled together some for me.

I think they are worried that winnebago or someone will get ahold of them and copy their designs! Yeah,, like that's gonna happen.... some real proprietary stuff goin' on there....

re diagrams
All the ones I've received have been via sending Thor an e-mail from their website.
Go to the Customer Care link below and click on "Customer Care" at the left:
Contact Thor Motor Coach

I've found that a short non-confrontational note works best. I'll typically get a reply within 3 days or so with an attached .pdf file.
My last request was something like:
Quote:
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out the waste plumbing on my Axis (specifically where the bathroom sink drain goes). Would it be possible to get a diagram of the waste system?
Thanks,
And they sent it to me:
http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f17...gram-1278.html

I wonder if all the Vegas/Axis diagrams are readily available to them because they have just finished designing the models (and thus all the diagrams are still fresh in their minds)?

It's just a basic misunderstanding of gravity...

There is a check valve built into the inlet. If you take it out exactly what you described happens. The pump will pump out that fill. The city connection does T into the the cold line to pressurize it. If you have your water pump on at the same time it should not come on unless the city water pressure is so low it trips the switch on the pump.

Do anyone use the pump to drain the fresh water tank along with the low point drain? It took several hours for the tank to drain using only the low point drain.

Did you open the fresh water inlet cap on the outside to air vent it? Might help speed it along.

I had gotten some plastc fittings from someplace and I think it was RV Surplus in Elkhart that were expandable. You could drill a hole the right size, insert the fitting and tighten the nut to squeeze the rubber seal for doing blind holes when you cant get inside the tank. If I could find these again in a larger size they would be perfect for adding a fast drain to the fresh water tank. I had Terry 5th wheel that had like a 1-1/4" drain line to the tank, you could empty it in a hurry!

I removed the hot water drain plug and turned on the water pump and opened the Fresh water drain valve, just watch and turn the pump of when the water level gets near the bottom of the fresh water tank

I just opened the valve and then drove the RV to the storage lot...let it drain out there.
