RV parts prices :-(

I went to install my new batteries today. In the process, one of the straps that holds down the battery was impossible to loosen. So I decided to cut the strap (bad move). I assumed that any auto parts store would have battery hold down straps. But NO! after going to 2 auto parts store, I discovered that it is no longer a standard item. I ended up having to go to an RV dealership to buy a new strap.

And $53.00 later I walked out the door.

So, out of curiosity, what type and size batteries did you buy?

I bought Interstate Group 27 Deep Cycle. They were $80 apiece at the local Costco.

Those straps are PITA!! I cut one of mine too. With four batteries now, they fit really snug in there. I just used a piece if 2x4 to keep them from sliding forward under braking.

So return it to CW & go buy the $3-5 one. Did you buy the entire box or just the strap that buckles around it?

You can go to Home Depot and buy "Lashing Straps". They are longer than the standard battery box strap but you can cut them to the length you need. They last much longer than the standard straps. Or you can buy battery box straps at Walmart for about 5 dollars or so.

CW is the most expensive place for parts & rv goodies on the planet. And from my experience if you need rv mechanical parts they never have them in stock, they'll have to order them.
