Windshield fluid ACE

On out recent trip I noticed the volume of fluid being pumped to the windshield was reduced and finally took a look. There is a one way valve in line from the pump to the wipers. I took it off and it was filled with blue gunk from dried windshield fluid. I tried to clean it with soapy water, isopropyl alcohol etc and it still didn't work.
I just drilled out the valve so there is good flow. It will take a little longer to get the fluid to the wipers but there is good volume.

Just posting this if anyone else has the same problem

Another check point when the washer does not work. Much cheaper than buying a pump.
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for sharing this as it may be helpful in the future. When the pump motors are faulty and need replacing, they blow a 5 amp fuse under the dash.

Is the fuse under the dash or under the hood? My pump was replaced this weekend and I asked the mechanic where it was. He said he didn't know but opened the engine hood and said it looked like the wire went to a box on the driver's side above the motor. Is there another fuse inside the unit under the dash or is it the one he showed me that is blowing?

Mine works well now but I would like know in case it happens again.

Phil

Phil,
It's under the dash to the left of the steering column. Behind a fuse cover plate in the upper right position I believe.
