Windsport Spare Tire/Rim

We are headed to Alaska in the spring. Most people who have done the trip recommend having at least one spare.

Has anyone purchased a tire/rim combo for a good price? (would like to stick with G670 RV 245/70/19.5 tires) Any info is appreciated.

Google is your friend, search who carries your tire in your area...

Thanks for the insight....amazing!

I have been online...no package deals to be found. Now I'm asking KNOWLEDGEABLE members if they have come across any.

I have the same tire I found it online for ~$510. The rim I expect you won't find and will be a Ford item.
So a quick check of Ford parts system under F53 Chassis shows a steel wheel 19.5 X 6.75 is $672.85. The conventional spare for the 19.5 is a 6.00 width and it says "call for pricing". Probably marginally better price.
Each lug nut is $6.78 and those fit both regular and the spare wheel. The stainless steel wheel cover (10 lug) can be had on ebay for ~$139.00 a pair.
This is what you'll need to carry it unless you have another method to mount it.

This carrier will even allow you to pull a toad as it is equipped with a 2" receiver...or mount a bike carrier, possibly; depends how long the extension on the bike carrier is. Just something to consider.

Yeah, found the tires for that price too... but couldn't nail down anything on the rim. Thanks for the info!!!

I would expect a wheel/tire combo in that size would be a tough thing to find. You might start by looking up an RV bone yard... those are not usually good deals as "part pickers" know what the price is "new". Also you'd need the tire date code to be sure it hasn't been on their lot for years waiting for a unsuspecting buyer to come along and then find it's dry-rotted. Of course depending on the price you could junk the tire and buy a new one just saving the rim knowing it's $673 for a new one of those.
Happy hunting...

Agreed....seeing that $673 rim price was an "Oh crap" moment! Thanks again for getting me started in the search.

Check a local junk yard or truck repair shop for a used rim, then buy tire to fit. Buying a used rim, assuming it’s in good condition, will save you a lot of money!

Midwest tire and wheel online seems to list the rim for $249. Part no. 19502. Haven’t purchased one yet for, um, cash flow reasons. My local truck tire place suggested a Cooper tire for under $300. He said it’s a better tire than the Goodyear and recommended them all around, not just for the spare. I already have the Roadmaster carrier so it’s not terrible but have other priorities at the moment.

Now those prices are a little more reasonable...thanks for the lead Pete!

Received my spare wheel from Midwest Wheel and Tire today. Ordered it on 11/07/2017. Part number 19502. I have been looking for a spare since January. Checked many sources and could only find new rims this size. I saw Midwest offered them in September. The rim I got was a little dirty and original paint. Does not look like it was fastened to an axle. There is no core in the metal valve stem. Getting ready to head for Florida soon. Having a spare gives me peace of mind.

You are welcome. Now that I pulled the trigger and bought one, the price will drop like a rock. That is what usually happens. LOL. Oh well, first world problem.

I don't think that it's the kind of thing that is going to be on sale for "Black Friday".....but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed LOL!!!
