WirthCo Battery Disconnect / Life Preserver

Saw a sidebar for this in the August Family Motor Coaching Magazine and am wondering if any one has try it.

Would like to know if the automatic disconnect at 12.0 volts is worth the 76.00 - 130.00 cost (depending on purchase location).

Battery Life Preserverâ„¢ Automatic Battery Disconnect Switch - Wirthco Engineering, Inc.

The wireless remote might be good for on applications with minimal room in the area of the battery.

Could be very handy in towing situations that require battery disconnect. Also like idea of installing on motor home chassis battery. Hey I have toys that cost a lot more.

I didn't even think about a TOAD when I saw this.

I am wondering if WirthCo could configure 2 of them to operate off the same remote. Connect one to the chassis battery and the other to the house batteries and disconnect both with a single push of a button when putting a rig in storage.

I'm not jumping at buying one, yet, because my coach gets plugged into 50 amp at the house when not in use.

Since I will be configuring the Lincoln for flat towing in the near future I will check the battery disconnect requirements on it.

Presumably that little device has its own battery..otherwise it would use the monitored battery's power.

Interesting the Q&A section on Amazon's product page for it implies that it detects the alternator charging the battery and swipes some current there to charge itself. That would be a neat little trick if it did do that.

It does get mixed reviews though.
