Xantrex inverter issue

We have a 2016 Thor Chateau that is plugged into a shoreline recepticle. The house batteries keep draining till the inverter starts beeping. Once we start the engine and let it run for awhile the inverter will go back up to 13. We don't know what changed. Anyone have any ideas?

Three things:

First, the inverter should not be required when on shore power.

Second, the AGS should be set so it starts the generator when the battery voltage drops to a certain level

Third, make sure you use/store switch is in the use position or your batteries may not charge when connected to shore power. This is probably the reason for your current condition.

The converter is what should keep your house batteries charged when plugged into shore power. As dstankov said your use/shore switch (battery disconnect switch) should be set to use.

Otherwise, the converter may not be working or there is an interruption between the converter and the battery.

I am assuming that your shoreline is working.

shore power related question

I have a similar situation that I am sure is simple for the experts out there.

I just brought the rig home - left it on shore power with the ac at a low setting. Came back and all was off. The source plug is hot.

Should the shore power run the coach with the battery store button off? Mine will not, but the generator does run the coach with the store button off.

Help please!

Jay

How were you plugged into shore power? If you were plugged into a 15A outlet with the AC on, you might be pretty close to the amperage rating of the receptacle, This could cause the voltage to drop and shut things down.

working

Tenbear. I was plugged into a small amp outlet - not sure of size - I was testing to see what it would pull - I think I found the problem - I overworked the extension cord that was involved - it was a descent size one but old - got a newer and bigger extension and it works fine -

I have a 50 amp extension cord that was being used on my car trailer but if I were to do this in a more serious manner I would use at least a 30 amp extension with one adapter at the shore power plug down to whatever was needed.

Thanks,

JM
