best vehiles to tow
I had my Ford Escape and F150 looked at to see the cost to get one of them ready to tow. Both are 2012. Seem my vehicles aren't 4-wheels down friendly. The company that was going to do the install suggest that I not do either because of transmission issues.
So my question is what vehicles are 4-down friendly?
I had no idea it would be this difficult.

Jeep Wrangler. Just put the transfer case in neutral and lock it up. No key needs to be left in it.

We have a Ford Focus with manual transmission. Put it in neutral and make sure the parking brake is released.

Ford Focus and Fiesta: both easily towable, put in neutral and go - read the manual

He could do that with his F150 too if it was 4WD.

Ford C-Max Energi: Rated to pull 4-down (actually the Hybrid, the Fusion Energi and Hybrid and the Lincoln MKZ--all with the same powertrain all towable 4-down).
The Energi's have the additional capability: Plug them into the pedestal at the campground and charge them up for 25+ miles of gas free driving--perfect for silently sightseeing in the area around the campground.
In addition +2 since you're a StarTrekFan the "hi-tech"ness of these vehicles can't be denied LOL (also a fan BTW).

There's hundreds of posts on this and that many different answers. It doesn't get much easier, cheaper, or lighter than a Jeep Wrangler and I would challenge anyone to dispute that with facts. Talk to some hitch places that install RV hitches on a regular basis.

Used to be that virtually any GM car could be flat towed. I don't know if that is still true or not, but I have towed our 2007 Chevy HHR five speed, thousands of miles.

Look at these. They should help u. My wife needed a new car so we just purchased a 2016 Ford Edge CPO which was listed on these guides. I then verified by Goggling an official owners manual.

Hope it helps, Dennis.

We have a 2016 Ford Focus (automatic) and it's very easy to flat tow. Put it in neutral and disconnect the battery (I installed a battery disconnect). I forget it's back there.

First question is how much can you tow behind your RV? But I like Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee (must have active drive).

I'll sell you my 2006 Saturn Vue with tow package all ready to go! I don't like to tow since my husband can't drive anymore. It has battery disconnect also.
