I have always towed a car since I had a Motorhome. I recently got a 2016 Axis 24.1 and I had my car braking system moved from my old Motorhome to the Axis. The braking system is a Unified tow brake system. I tow a 1996 Suzuki Sidekick Sport. It's a 4x4 and its towed 4 down with auto transmission in park and the transfer case in neutral. When towing I stop every 200 miles and start the Suzuki and put it in gear and go through all the gears with my foot on the brake for a few minutes. That according to Suzuki is required to properly lube the transmission. I haven't had any issues with towing it for 15,000 miles. I have gotten used to the luxury of having a tow vehicle to drive when sightseeing, driving mountain trails, etc.

Seems like Jeeps are pretty popular toads, Here is our submission, haven't towed it behind the Vegas yet, but it did real well behind our 2003 Majestic.

Depending on the trip I have either a motor scooter on a carrier on the back or a 2014 Kia Sorento on a dolly.

Just about any car that can be flat towed can be pulled with an Axis (especially if you have the E450 frame).

Okay, way back in post #53 this thread I started my search for a towing system. This May will be two years with the RV and our Toad (2016 Kia Soul, Manual, weighing in at 2714 lbs) and we are happy with each one.
So now, I am looking at the Blue OxBase Plate (BX2726) at around $419 for the Kia and the Blue Ox Alpha Towbar (BX7365) good to 6500lbs at $592.60. Now comes the confusing part...Brakes. Any suggestions? Maybe someone who is towing a Kia Soul or an equal light weight?

With my old DP we had the Air Force One which worked off the air brakes of the DP and loved it. Now with Axis I asked SMI and it would be a complete out and in ($$$$). So I went with Blue Ox Patriot $939. Pretty easy to use with jeep. and tested on freeway with texting semi driver moving into my lane. Jeep braked straight and true.

Good looking toad car there! We are on our second roadster, towing behind our Vegas. We towed the first one over 50,000 miles, and our newer one about 5000 so far. More smiles per mile!

We have a new 2016 Vegas and a 2016 Fiesta, and a new blue ox tow bar. My daughter just took it out for the first time on a 400+ mile trial run. She said the Vegas swayed a lot and was afraid to take her hands off the wheel to even reach for a drink. How has your Vegas handled for you?

We are towing a '14 Hyundai Elantra manual with push button start. First day of trip the accessory shut down after an hour. After a bit I figured out that the only reason to have accessories on is to power the brake and prevent the steering wheel from locking. Also found that there is no steering wheel lock on models with push button start. So I just ran a receptacle directly from the battery (with inline fuse). Has worked perfectly 7000 miles into the trip. I have the Blue Ox Alpha tow bar. Using the Blue Ox Patriot brake(love it).

VWam,
We did the Safe-T-Plus as one of our first upgrades. We took it to the Austel Ga Factory for the install and purchase. They took their time, were great, easy to deal with and very patient during the instal and road test. It made a world of difference when driving and hitting potholes, irregular shaped road patches and/or repairs. Much less steering wheel movement.
Working on the towing package now. SO to all, keep the ideas coming in so far as brakes.
Thanks.

Current toad is a 2016 Harley Trike. Aluma makes a trike trailer that weighs under 400 pounds with a torsion axle. The whole thing loaded weighs less than 1,600 pounds with about 120 pounds of tongue weight. When I do have to unhook it I can actually push it around by hand on hard paved surfaces with the trike still loaded.
We will stay with this as our toad for now. Just can't decide on maybe getting a tow dolly, or an extended tow dolly (take both trike and car), or get some car to flat tow in the future.
