Cool towing App for Android

Check out this cool towing app. It's designed to help folks make informed decisions when shopping for a Tow Vehicle.

Users can search all pickups and SUVs sold in North America by year, make and model, engine, transmission and axle ratio, and even different trim levels. This should be a great time saver at car dealers imo, have you ever noticed the uncomfortable look you get when you ask a car salesman about towing capacities?

Thanks for the link Janet. It seems like the question "What tow vehicle do I need?" is one of the most discussed topics on the RV discussion boards. Unfortunately they are getting advice from people that have little more knowledge about the topic than the person asking does.
You're also right about salespersons not knowing the towing capacity of the trucks they sell. They usually just tell you the it will handle your trailer just fine...no problem. I walked out a dealership in Texas because the salesman insisted the 3/4 ton Ram he had on the lot was well suited for my 15,500 pound Redwood 5er.
Thanks again for the link... informed consumers will make the roads safer for all of us.

Noob,

Lots of good information at fifthwheelst.com. I see they have an app for the iphone, but I'm not sure what it does.

There area other calculators there that should help you figure what truck you need for the 36FL.

Noob,
The website Kwire provided also has a page with links to the manufacturers tow ratings. Those ratings are your most accurate guide for deciding what tow vehicle you need once you have the weight of the trailer.
My 36FL has a max gross weight of 16000 pounds and that is the weight I used for choosing my 2 wheel drive Ram 3500 DRW. With the 4.10 axle and automatic transmission it has a payload capacity of 4114lbs and tow rating of 17,950lbs.
