Air Force One on Palazzo
In the next week or two I'll be starting my flat tow gear installation. I'm using Blue Ox components for the tow bar and SMI's Air Force One for the brake controller.
Does anyone have any pics they'd care to share for the motorhome side of the AFO installation process (preferably on a Palazzo)?

Thanks lo-tek! Unfortunately I'm 250 miles from a Camping World, but I'll consider that option if I can't get comfortable with any of the other alternatives ...
Have fun!

What you are going to be towing? Do you even need a brake system?
We've tow our '14 Ford Fiesta, and now our '14 Ford Focus, both between 2,500 to 2,900lbs, and have never used a brake system in over 83,000 miles all across the US and Canada and Alaska... don't even know it's back there, and the coach has no problem stopping with it's help with the exhaust brake system.
travel, enjoy! : )

I'm going to be pulling a 2016 Jeep Cherokee 4x4, but I wouldn't anymore consider towing without brakes than I would jumping off the Empire State Building ...
Just me ... Way too risk averse I guess ...

Smi
On my DP 38ft Monaco in 2013, I had the SMI installed. We purchased it at Quartzsite AZ during the RV show there and they came to our Campsite and performed the installation there. They did an excellent job. Don't remember the price but it was better than any other quotes we got. Quartzsite is near the end of January if you can wait. They have a booth there every year.

Thanks Baddad53! I don't have a gun to my head, but we are gearing up to make a west coast trip starting in September so I need to do something fairly quickly ...

I figured that. When I purchased the Axis ( hydraulic not pneumatic) I asked about change out to the Duo version. Complete replacement. . Went with Patriot unit while it works well, I miss just hooking up the hitch and nothing else.

Not to be "that guy", but the following link has the towing laws for each state and some of them require a break no matter what the towing weight is.
Trailer Brakes - AAA Digest of Motor Laws
Take it for what its worth.

copy that MiramarVA ... towing anything of substance without brakes falls in the categories of: fools foley; and "just because you can doesn't mean you should" ...
I'll be that guy, I don't mind ...

"of substance"
A good lawyer will find an out in every situation...none of those states listed in the above link mention "towing anything of substance".

That was a personal note, not a legal one but if people want to take risks that IMHO are unnecessary that's up to them ... personally I'd rather spend good money on prevention than any money on a lawyer ...

Just pokin' fun...you're right!! A "Dewey, Cheatum & Howe" law firm will go after you if you cause an accident with a trailer behind you and no brakes. They're blood suckers and uncover every stone.
