Exploring the Viability of towing a 2009 Honda Civic

I'm a newbie to the motor-coach environment. Just recently purchased a 2016 Tuscany XTE 34ST. I want to tow my 4 cylinder 2009 Honda Civic with auto-trans. I suspect it is tow-able 4 down but I'm having a difficult time getting those with vested interested interests, Honda Corporate or there dealers to confirm that this vehicle is tow-able 4 down. BTW, even Camping World was a little non-committal when I approached them.

So I have 2 questions: 1. has anyone on this forum towed this vehicle 4 down? And 2. can anyone define what hardware I would need to obtain and implement to make this a nice towing package?

Thank you
Sundance

Have you looked in the owner's manual to see if it says the car can be towed 4 down?

Sundance... look at the remco site and put in your vehicle information ...
They do a pretty good job of outlining different vehicle requirements or making notes about them for 4 down towing.

Met a fellow in Arizona, he was from Maine, this past winter that flat towed his Hyuandi car (BTW not designed to be flat towed) with it idling in neutral & had towed it that way for thousands of miles. He stated for what it would cost to buy a vehicle desined to be flat towed he could buy a lot of gas to let it idle behind the MH. This doesn't answer your question, but is an alternative.

Exploring the Viability of towing a 2009 Honda Civic (Cont)

My Owner’s manual states the following:
If, due to damage, your vehicle must be must be towed with the front wheels on the ground, do this:
· Start the engine
· Press on the brake pedal. Move the shift lever through all its positions
· Shift to D position for 5 seconds then to N
· Turn off the engine
· Release the parking brake
· Leave the ignition switch in the ACCESSORY (I) position so the steering wheel does not lock
Improper towing preparation will damage the transmission. Follow the above procedure exactly.
With the front wheels on the ground, do not tow the vehicle more than 50 miles, and keep the speed below 35 mph.

I also went to the both the 2012 CR-V and 2014 CR-V, vehicles that are among the most popular toads on the road, Owner’s manuals and found they were much more abbreviated than the Owner’s Manual for my 2009 Civic. The 2012 and 2014 CR-V Owner’s Manuals reads as follows:
· Improper towing such as towing behind a motor-home or other motor vehicle can damage the transmission.

Traveling your point is well taken but I'm not there yet. Ty, I haven't got to Remco yet. I'm aware of them and will them out next. Thanks to all for the feedback. Please keep it coming.

Thanks Ty, I've looked at the Remco data and I'm trying to process the info.
