Jeep tow setup about done

We got our Cherokee Trailhawk tow setup done and took it on its maiden tow (all the way back to the storage lot). Only thing I'm not happy with is that the Roadmaster crossbar raises the connection point about 2 inches so now I have a 2-1/2 inch height different. Roadmaster says under 3 inches is OK, but I've got a 2 inch riser hitch adapter on order. I'm also debating whether I should put a switch in series with the flat tow cable fuse.

Looks good! We have the Roadmaster setup on our Quantum towing a Liberty. Ours also required a 2" riser to level it out. Tows great. Did you go for a braking system with your install?

We went with a portable RViBrake3 unit. Simple to set up and compact compared to others. Takes about a minute. I had the RViBrake battery charger installed at the same time as the Jeep flat tow cable can eat up your battery.

The RViBrake folks initially developed the Brake Buddy and eventually sold the company. After the non-compete expired they formed RViBrake. They are basically down the road from us in Castle Rock - maybe a 20 mile drive.

toad

Hi,
I wouldn't worry to much about 2 1/2 inches, if the toad is lower and your have toad brakes you are fine.
i installed a blueox towbar, baseplate, and hopkins wiring harness on my 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited.
I went with smi stay and play duo braking system its proportional and i just
hit a switch to turn it on.
it has a indicator light on dash that lights up when brakes are applied, used for adjustment.
I tow with a 2017 thor freedom elite 29fe e450.
Happy Camping
