First thing first: Did you check to make sure that vehicle is towable? Motohome magazine has a guide for each model year on the web. Some automatics can be towed and not all manuals can be.

Then, you'll need a shop for the baseplate and lights installation. Do some comparison, prices may vary widely. There are two leading companies that make baseplates (for the specific car) and tow bars, Big Ox and Roadmaster. Some shops might give you a better deal on the hardware than you can get buying direct.

You'll also need a braking system, either portable or permanently mounted on the car. All of these topics have been extensively discussed on this and other forums. A search here will keep you busy for hours.

Good news: it is towable 4 down! I would go with the Roadmaster EZ4 or EZ5 baseplate. Check out Etrailer for all your towing needs:

Roadmaster base plate, Falcon II drawbar, aux brake system of your choice (I like the invisi-brake) and you'll be good to go.

On the newer toads the steering wheel does not lock like they did in in the older cars, so what keeps the wheel / tires straight when towing.

With 4 down towing the steering wheel in the toad has to be unlocked while towing. The geometry of the suspension allows the toad to follow the towing vehicle straight down the road and around curves. It is also why you can not back up with the toad attached.

Congratulations!
Can you set up your Backup camera to be on constantly?
It'll give you the opportunity to keep an eye on the Toad...

on our '14 Fiesta and '14 Focus we use our Blue Ox ALPHA towbar, installed BlueOx front plate, and BlueOx wiring harness to rear bulbs in the tail lights.... easy.

you can have any truck or 4wd shop do the install, usually about $300. These shops make modifications to cars and trucks all the time, and are the best and quickest place to have the install performed.

we also had them add a 12v cut off switch, under the hood on top of the battery, in order to eliminate any 12v battery loss while traveling, and in order to be able to remove the key when towing.

84,000+ miles with no issues....

The blue ox towbar installation on a 2014 Focus isn’t too bad for a handy home wrencher. With a manual transmission it seems like a perfect toad to us.

both of ours are FWD automatics...no need to worry about having to go with a manual on most any of the Ford models.

Indeed! I had to search for quite a while to find a manual car as I really find them more fun to drive. Apparently it’s an effective theft deterrent as well!

Having CW install everything thats needed for the new Toad tomorrow. I will let you know how I make out. So far I have had no problems with CW, but this will be the first time back after purchasing the 2018 Windsport 29 m 13 months ago.

towing ford fiesta

Only the Ford Fiesta ST. cannot be towed four down. all others are ok.

We have a 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback with moon roof. Paid $14,500 out the door price last year.

Took it to a Hitch Center specialist and had it rigged for flat towing.

Great little car, lots of zip and TONS of gas milage!! Only weighs 2600 lbs dry weight. We cannot even tell the car is back there when towing behind our 2017 Thor 26HE.

BE SURE TO READ FORD FIESTA OWNERS MANUAL UNDER RECREATIONAL TOWING.

Have fun.

CW did a great job of installing everything and teaching me how everything works. They even installed a battery disconnect switch. Our maiden voyage is Sunday, Ocala,FL to Temperanceville, VA about 14hrs.
