SMI Stay-IN-Play question?

Just had a SMI Duo installed in our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee toad by our 2015 Hurricane 32N.

I like the system except for the fact that the brake feedback LED is not visible thru the backup camera. I moved the light from the top of the Guardian Rock Guard to the hitch arm and a few more places. The LED works, but it is still not visible through the camera.

I am interested in any solutions that you guys, with the same unit, have found.

Thank you.

Ragman what I have done on other motorhomes was to use the blue brake wire that is in the 7 way round plug to send signal to cab under the dash is a 4 wire plug for optional brake control and tie into blue wire i used a led light mounted in the dash

My brake led light is mounted on the back of the rearview mirror of my toad (Jeep wrangler unlimited). I can see it fine thru the backup cam with it mounted there.

Ragman there is already a blue brake wire that runs to the cab you will find it in the 7 way round plug and if you look under your dash the blue wire is there on aplug with 3 others that was intended for adding a brake controller

What "rmblaster" said. Easy hookup to small indicator light.

This looks to be the way to go.

The only question I have is, does the blue wire indicate that the brakes are being applied on the coach or on the couch and toad.

It is my understanding that the brakes on the toad are only applied when the force on the coach pedal is applied fairly hard in order to energize the toad brake system. This SMI system is designed to apply pressure on the toad brakes only when needed to prevent excessive wear on toad pads.

Hence my question, does the blue wire indicate only when the toad brake is energized?

Ok all your doing by using the blue brake wire that runs from 7 way plug to under dash is sending the signal to the cab where you can install a small led light that will activate when the brakes come on

Cut the 2 led wire from smi led and hook power to blue wire in 7 way plug other wire to any ground
under dash locate brake controller plug and get new led light from auto store and hook power wire to blue and other wire to white install light in dash so when smi activates dash led will light up
