Device for Moving Around a Tow Dolly

My tow dolly if heavy! Any recommendations for a motorized jockey wheel or a manual device? How well do they work?

You could get something like this guy to wheel around the dolly.
I think I'd want something a little smaller if you're going to use it around the campsite as well.

I could transport something small in the back of my tow vehicle.

JamieGeek,

I like the
MaxxTow Trailer Dolly

But, do they really work. Can anyone comment on this unit? Thanks

I don't see why that wouldn't work. The etrailer page above has a video showing a single person move a boat trailer around--a much larger trailer than a tow dolly (note that its rated for 600lbs tongue weight; more than the tow dolly weighs!).

You can find them cheaper. They work fine on everything except gravel and then they are harder to use. The wheels don't want to turn in gravel. I have moved many different trailers heavier than a dolly with one of these.

I have this exact thing, except from harbor freight tools.

I had researched powered version of this sort of thing but they were very pricey.

I bought it to move around my old popup, and still use it for my 18 ft boat. I can move my boat on reasonably level paved surfaces but now hope on gravel or grass. My paver driveway has an ever so slight slope up into the garage, and then approx 1/4inch step up onto the slab. I can get the boat to that step up but just don't have enough mass in me to get it over that hump.
Anyway, not sure how much the boat weighs but I think it's just under 1,600# dry not counting engine, trailer, gas, & stuff

so I would think it would move around a tow dolly like a breeze, probably even in grass

They indeed work! I used one and carried in our toad for a couple years. It will save your back!

I'm glad this thread popped back up. After I last saw this thread, I stumbled across this thing but couldn't find the thread again to post
seems like it would be overkill for a tow dolly, but some folks may like it, for rough ground or for other reasons
looks interesting to me....wish I had one for my boat!
