ACE is a great at towing

I use the ACE to tow our boat, RZR or Jeep. The ACE rises to the occasion in all cases. We attended the camp RZR this past fall and we made it with all the sand no problem. When we want to go to the lake just hook up the boat and head to the ramp. We just traded our RAM for a Jeep hard rock. I miss the RAM but the Jeep makes a great versatile vehicle. Too bad you can't triple tow boat behind the Jeep...

How do you do at launching the boat with the RV? Last year I paid for launch services rather than risk it.

We launch ours all the time with our 26' class C. (7000# boston whaler) Big thing is make sure you don't bottom out going over the ramp and don't trust the parking brake.

My wife and I have a system. First take off the strap and chain from bow eye. Next have a rope that goes from the winch post threw the bow eye and up to a cleat. Back the boat into the water. Start it up then the person in the boat goes and removes the rope from the cleat and throws it over. It will slide right threw the bow eye. Just make sure rope is not long enough to get back to the tires. Driver never leaves the seat.

To come out the driver has to get out (because there are only 2 of us) so she backs in the trailer. I drive the boat up the trailer and once up she then sets the parking brake and gets out to hook up the winch strap. and goes backup up to cab. It isn't until she pulls forward that I trim up the motors and turn them off. This way if the parking brake was to fail I could use the boat to keep the rv from sliding in.

They also sell a device to where when you pull up on the trailer it automatically latches onto the bow eye. It wont work on mine but I have seen it on a lot of ski boats.

You have to be careful where you launch. Boat launches can be steep, crowded and slippery. I just go when the crowd is minimal and the ramp is nice. There a site at Havasu called site 6 that you would never dream of using. If you go across the lake there is a nice ramp that the is no problem. I also avoid steep and slippery ramps for obvious reasons. Lake Mead is probably a no-no but just down the river there is a nice ramp at Lake Mohave that is grooved and a slow decent.

I want to go up to lake Powell but I'm pretty nervous about that ramp.

I haven't looked for one for our current coach, which is an F-53 chassis, but on another MH which was on a workhorse (Chevy) we had a front mounted receiver hitch. When we got to launch area I turned around and pushed the boat, much easier to maneuver launching and retrieving. I need to look for the F-53 so I can use MH to pull the boat.

Hi,

I outfitted my Jeep with a Stay N Play brake system. Just got back from a shakedown trip and it worked very well. Easy to turn on/off. Had a couple of hard stops and no issues on braking. As a side note, I wish folks driving regular cars would respect the space we leave between our RVs and the car in front of us. Seems like it's sport for some folks to speed up, move into that space then slam on their brakes. Sorry, ranted there a bit. Good luck!

I use the ready brute elite system. Its a good price on Amazon and uses a surge brake mechanical system. I would recommend researching it before investing in separate tow bar / brake solutions.

We were in page Arizona last week did see pickup, towing a 25 foot camper trailer, towing a boat, and on back of trailer was a small motorcycle
Tried to get picture but missed shot
I did google if this was even legal and there are a lot of pictures
So towing toad and boat might not be out of question

So you will be pushing 5000 pounds towing?
(My 2dr Wrangler is 3200... Unlimited is at least 800 more... Plus 700 plus gas/anything else you load in it...

My concern would be GCWR... Be sure you stay under the total combined weight... Need to weigh rig and truck loaded normally and add them up... I can't tow 5000 with my Hurricane.

I was wondering about that option.
How tough is it, to back UP a boat ramp?
