Wow I am surprised at the weight of the F150. At 4000lbs it weighs less than our Cherokee Trailhawk at 4200. I figured a 1/2 ton truck would have been pushing 5000. I expect we will be seeing more 150’s behind a MH.

BTW, if you want to tow a 2 wheel drive F-150 it can be done if you install a drive shaft device to de-couple the drive shaft from the rear wheels. There are 3rd party de-couplers available.

I'll offer this: I have an E-450 with a triton V-10 towing a 3500lb Ranger Edge.
It keeps me on my toes.

Isn’t a 31L a hand full all on its own?
For what it’s worth, flat towing my old 3,500-pound Ranger behind E-350 van was a breeze. Combined weight was fairly low so performance was quite good. The tow vehicle being stable and easy to drive must make a big difference.

Before I had a 3rd party driveshaft disconnect Professionally installed I would crawl under my 2003 Ford Expedition with a 12mm wrench and disconnect the driveshaft. A bungee cord and a strap and I flat towed it from Colorado to Florida and a couple of shorter trips without any problems.
It wasn't an elegant solution but it worked fine and didn't harm the 2 wheel drive Expedition at all.

Thanks to all for the input, but after further thought, we are going to tow our Gold Wing in our enclosed trailer and rent vehicles at our destinations. This allows us to have a car (car rentals are fairy cheap), and more importantly a motorcycle, wherever we go. This path makes the most sense for us.

We rented a car for the first season with our Axis. I figured that the cost we paid for them was more in the one season than what our dolly cost. Got the dolly the next season.

Probably the best decision -
Plus you can bring along other things in the trailer and it will be an easier tow which means a more enjoyable trip and less wear & tear on the motorhome..
Enjoy!

I wouldn't know? This whole thing started out that way. I don't have as much a problem with semis passing me as I do when they pull in front me. Go figure.

Not a bad take on a solution. Enjoy!

No, Bob we have not had the bike to any gatherings such as Americade. The Wing is a 2008 Level 3 Gold Wing and has everything except the airbag (insert joke here). This is our second Wing, the first being a 1997. We tend to go where there is not a lot of people. That being said we have ridden it to Nova Scotia, Key West, Tail of the Dragon, Cherohalla Skyway, Hellbender, Blue Ridge Parkway, and many other places...BUT the wife does not want to ride long distances anymore, hence the enclosed trailer. Now we can pull it out west to ride all of the places that we have been to but had to ride in a cage.
