Transferring a base plate etc

Once you have a toad set up, are you able to transfer/modify the base plate if you ever want to change the vehicle your towing?

Most Base plates are make and model specific

Yes a pure swap is likely out of the question. Wasn't sure if anyone on these boards ever modified or attempted.
