Send your firearms back home or store them in a safe place near the border and return later when back in The States and pick them up. I never ever have been searched because I crossed the border many times when I lived in Maine. They get to know you and keep computer records of you. I never took advantage of the border guys. They are just doing their job as us all do and almost all people generally are honest but a few buggers spoil it for us all so they do random searches despite you matey being totally honest.
