Thanks Mr Sunshine, I found the problem it was a short at the hdmi plug caused somehow by the former owner maybe when the satellite dish was installed but the hdmi cord at the end where the plug is...

Hi and thanks for your reply I have tried the inputs and it does recognize the DVD player but input screen or the satellite dish ,but when I go to the screen after the input prompts it still says no...
