2) Also you should run the generator once per month for 15-30 minutes with a load (air conditioning).

In the summer, I also opened the ceiling vent a crack and left the fan running. This puts a minor load on the house batteries so that they don't get overcharged. I called the vent manufacturer and they said there was no issue with keeping them running.

In the winter leave a small (750 watt) electric heater running to keep mold from starting.
