One Slide Motor Stopped working on Extend

Got our 2017 Quantum back from the dealer (warranty repairs) and began to load it back up for a trip. We have the quantum with the full side slide - the dinette area and the bed both slide out on the same long wall. The slide operated just fine the first time I used it (in driveway on relatively level ground). The second time I tried used the slide however, it would not extend. The dealer was not working on the slide as part of the warranty work.

For me - It would go out about 6 inches and the rear slide motor would stop. The forward motor would keep going and the slide would go start to get crooked. I could get it to come back in (retract) but the same thing happened on the next attempts to extend it out again. It was getting dark so I had to call it a day and go through a sleepless night.

The next day I broke out the Schwintek slide motor troubleshooting guide supplied when I purchased the rig (Hmmmm - wonder why that was included?).

There were no fault lights on the contoller. No LED lights of any kind. Connections to the controller box looked OK. I could not see the rollers to confirm that nothing was binding up.

I played around with it a bit (moving it in and out a few inches) to see what was happening. at that point it did extend without the back motor stopping. Now we are getting someplace. But then when I tried to retract the slide back in the forward motor stopped after traveling just few inches in. Yikes. Played wit it as before and eventually it came back in.

The trouble shooting guide included a process to sync the motors so I tried that next. Basically you run the slide out a few inches and stop then you bring it back in and hold the power button for 5 seconds more to make sure both motors Amp out. You do that three times. Then you (hopefully) run the slide all the way out and let the motors amp out when it fully extends. Next you bring it back in making sure to Amp out the motors by keeping the switch engaged for 5 seconds after slide seats.

That seems to have done the trick so far. I will run it in and out a few more times before our trip this weekend. It was quite a relief to get it working again.

I am guessing the Tech at the dealer ran the slide out part way to do his work and or did not amp out the motors when he extended it and retracted it. This may have gotten the motors out of sync. From what I read the slide should always run all the way out and or in without stopping and the button should always be held a few seconds after seating to make sure the motors stay synced. I hope that was the problem. Time will tell.

Oh, and while at the dealer, the Tech removed the microwave to add a cooktop vent for us. When he reinstalled the micro he did not screw it back into the cavity! Lucky it did not slide out on me on the way home and lucky I noticed the screws were not reinstalled when I was reviewing the install of the vent hood. Geeeze.
