At our PDI we were told the same thing - that it used to be recommended to lube it but no longer is. That said, I’ll probably do it every 2 or 3 years.
I read a lot here about slide problems but mine have, so far, worked fine and they certainly are nearly universal these days with many machines having two three or even four of them. I’d love to know what percentage of slides actually ever fail.
