I do run into this with the Valterra hose that I use. With the weight of the fluids it begins to expand and grow if there is more slack in the hose. Mainly when I use the full 20' of hose and only need about 12-13'.

Another thing I've been doing with my sewer hose is to create a trap in the hose. Otherwise the camps sewer gases might still work their way back up into your rig if you leave your grey tank open.
