Unplugged? There's your problem. Try storing in STORE. Of course if you've killed the batteries several times before they may not have the staying power you need. Best to install a battery disconnect for storing unplugged for any period of time.

EDIT: Sorry, "would not start" has no bearing on USE/STORE switch (normally, unless you have a failure in the cross-connect circuitry). But battery disconnect for chassis battery is also a good idea.
