It is not an auto rotate function it is the lack of an auto rotate that is the problem.
When a smartphone takes a photo it embeds in the picture some metadata about the orientation that the photo was taken (portrait, landscape, etc.). That way the phone doesn't have to go through the process of rotating the picture itself, it just stores the pic as it is pulled off the sensor and marks the orientation of the phone.
Most display applications are smart enough to read that metadata and do the rotation for you.
The problem here in the forums: The forums are
not reading that orientation data and just displaying the image as is. (I've noticed that the forum does do some processing when a pic is uploaded so it could, conceivably, be added to that step a proper rotate based on metadata info.)
