Are you talking about the "Pilot Out" light on the LP Gas switch?
OR
The water heater will not run (light) on propane?

If it wont heat on propane then have you tried to light it with one of these?

You'll have to try it while the igniter is trying, it will only try 3 times.


If it still doesn't light then you need to clean the orifice in the burner.

Here's a quote from this web site.

"Propane Won’t Light
Check to see if the burner nozzle is clogged. Spiders and other insects like the smell of propane and they will get inside the gas supply tube, this will cause the burner not to light. Check to be sure the exhaust area is clear too."
