We bought the 2018 Thor ACE last Aug from Camping World and they told us the same thing.
They told us one of their Techs had just returned from a training class from the factory and for us to "never" lube the tracks because it had been discovered by the manufacturer that the lube was attracting and holding dirt and grime and this was a factor in failure.
They did however tell us to spray lube the seals using the "Green" (only) label CRC spray.
They also told us to always run the slide all the way out or in and to not allow it to stop in between.
In addition, they said if the slide did become out of sync, to run in and out a few times to re-sync.

So far, the only bit of this I have needed was to operate the in/out of the slide when it seemed to be crossing up and not closing "even" against the wall.

I would never bet the ranch on all of this being true but it's what we were told by CW. Well, except for the re-sync issue, that worked.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
