Hi Bob, it wasnt hard at all, there is a hinge the length you have to remove all the screws and on each end there is the metal angle I think it was that supports the back half and it is attached with a couple bolts to the front half. Those were a pain to get to but not bad. The back half isnt real heavy and I was able to remove it myself. With just the front half you gain a lot of storage space and you dont whack your head when it is down. I originally made an "L" out of wood to fasten so stuff didnt roll off onto your head while driving
. That actually worked out well when I ended up turning it into a cabinet, it gave me something to fasten the facia too.
