Google maps:
  • Tap on the three bar menu at top left
  • Tap "Offline maps"
  • Tap "Select your own map"
  • Drag/zoom/adjust the map to the area you are interested in
  • Tap "Download"
There you go offline/downloaded maps (you can do this multiple times for different areas) in Google maps.
