Dash Heat and Radio Failures?
Driving home late Sunday after another "Rush the Field Purdue Win" on Sat.
I pulled over to connect the antenna on my Sirius Radio. I removed the little square cover on the top of the dash with the black rubber insert above the radio.
It WAS HOT! I mean REALLY REALLY HOT! My radio wires and cables were like limp wet noodles... I did leave the cover off the rest of the way home.
My questions are.
1. Anyone dismantling the dash know where that kind of heat leakage would be coming from?
2. I think this heat could be the cause of all the Radio Failures?
I will be leaving it off for a while. I am thinking about adding a vent or install a computer fan under that tray area pointing up. Next time out I will take some temp readings (not sure when that will be).
